WATER JET CUTTING
Water Jet Cutting for Thick Materials in Sandy, Utah
Waterjet Cutting is ideal for non metals and thick materials (over 1"), when laser and plasma struggle. Waterjet is a cold cutting process, this means there is no heat affected zone, and no additional processing of part edges. This also makes for an ideal rough cutting for precision CNC machined parts, turning plates of metal into slightly over sized parts which for machining. This can greatly reduce the amount of time and material needed in traditional block machining.
A waterjet can cut anything placed in front of the beam with thickness up to 6". The edge quality is dependent upon cutting speed, leaving a nice sandblasted edge when high quality is warranted. Tolerances of +/- .010" of a rough cut, and .005" are typical of a fine cut.
Materials which are easily cut by a waterjet include:
Glass (single layer, laminated, and bulletproof)
reflective materials (brass, bronze, copper)
Stone / Granite
